LMMS (formerly LinuxMultiMediaStudio) is a free and open-source program/DAW that lets you make music with arranging samples, automation tracks, effects in fx-mixer, song editor, and MIDI support combined in one super application. It supports API, LV2, and VSTs of 32-bits and 64-bits for a variety of types of LMMS your computer can run! I hope this will help you in some way.

That is totally okay! I understand that you are already using Ableton for about 3/4 of my age. So, I suggest to keep doing what you are already doing, so you don't have to worry about missing out! In your mind, it should be something like, "I actually don't need LMMS. I have Ableton for 12 years!" Or something like what I put in your quotes. LMMS isn't that good of a DAW like Ableton, because LMMS doesn't even have active developers working on the next update! So, just do what you do, because honestly, you're not missing out that much.
